Lahemaa National Park Tour
Lahemaa is Estonia's largest and oldest national park, founded to preserve natural landscapes and unique local culture. For this tour, we’ve selected a few places that best illustrate the diversity of Lahemaa:
Palmse Manor, one of the most magnificent Baroque manors in Estonia. With its elegantly restored manor house and picturesque gardens, the manor offers a great overview of Estonian manor life and local aristocracy's lifestyle. (The park and buildings from the outside. Entrance to the buildings is optional and not included in the tour price (€8 per person).
The traditional coastal fishing village of Altja with charming wooden houses, boat and net sheds, a well, a tavern and swings. Here you can enjoy the authentic atmosphere and admire the view of the Gulf of Finland.
Viru Bog, a mystical landscape of wetlands dotted with small lakes and rare plants; Bogs are a pristine ecosystem filled with wonder and breathtaking beauty. We will hike the boardwalk trail to a watchtower for panoramic views. During the walk you will learn about the formation of bogs, their rare flora and fauna, myths and legends, and the role of bogs in climate change. The total length of the route is 2.8 km.
Jägala Waterfall, Estonia’s widest and one of its most beautiful waterfalls. Jagala waterfall is approximately 8 metres high and more than 50 metres wide. You will be able to see the waterfall both from above and from below, by going down a specially equipped wooden staircase.
We will stop for lunch at the historic roadside tavern Viitna, which offers traditional national dishes made from local fresh ingredients.
This tour is not about rushing from one place to another, we believe in savoring every moment, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere and enjoy the gems that Lahemaa offers.
